About Me
Who is L M Carmody?
Welcome! I'm Lilith, full name Lilith Mae Carmody, a twenty-something aspiring romance author from Wales. If you like filthy romance novels with strong female characters and ridiculously hot guys, then hopefully you’ll enjoy my writing.
I'm a lover of food, whether that’s trying out new restaurants, or cooking up new recipes. My culinary journey began when I was a child, ripping the leaves off my mother’s beloved plants to add to my ‘potions’. Not much has changed since then except my creations are now edible and my mam grew an herb garden for me to use instead of her magnolia tree.
When I'm not being the living embodiment of a reclusive vampire, I enjoy travelling and pushing myself out of my comfort zones. When I've had enough of that, I retreat to my lair to binge watch anime, read way more books than what can be healthy and write the beginnings of new novels.
Aside from all that, I'm obsessed with nature, the changing seasons and watching the sky change colour throughout the year. While I like most animals, bugs will cause me to have cardiac arrest. They're fine…as long as they stay the hell away from me. I have four snakes and a dog, as well as a cat who sadly passed away. Above all, I'm creative to my core, and love to exercise this part of my soul whether it’s with words, paint, drawing or helping the kids I work with to build dinosaurs out of Lego.
My Writing Journey
Like all writers, I'm a huge reader and pretty much always have been. During my teenage years I would consume books at a mildly alarming rate, but sometimes I struggled to find the book that I wanted to read. One day I had the brilliant idea to write that book myself. And so the torture began. I quickly learnt that writing an entire novel wasn’t as easy as I'd thought. After finishing my degree, I finally got my shit together and finished Chasing Ember, with plans to write many more novels in the near future.
What’s a Writing Process?
Some writers are so beautifully organised, watching their methods of plotting a novel is an artform in itself. I am not one of those writers. I’m the kind that has notes for the same novel spread over five different devices and twelve notepads. Each novel has its own, messy, god-awful process that I come up with on the fly. For Chasing Ember, I have notes on my phone, my writing journal, my laptop, a sheath of paper tucked in a folder above my wardrobe and several notepads of handwritten notes. You might say that I don’t make things easy for myself, and you would be 100% correct.
As for the where, sometimes I write in bed, other times I write in sweatpants in my sitting room. Other times I have written in my car or a café when the mood strikes me. One day, I'm sure I will figure out the most productive method, but until then, chaos rules me and I accept this.
